The Collective Abroad with Clara Fornander and Lauri Kadalipp

The Collective Abroad is a collective of improvisors and composers from Stockholm (SE), Copenhagen (DK), Aalborg (DK), Hamburg (DE), Berlin (DE) and Vilnius (LT). Their mission is to connect people across borders through music, combining modern jazz, Nordic folk, groove and explosive energy from a world class horn section.
Since 2019, The Collective Abroad released 2 albums and played 10 international tours with concerts at festivals such as Elbjazz (DE), Classical Beat (DE), Swingin' Groningen (NL), JazzKaar (EE), Supernova Jazz Blast (DK), Aarhus Jazzfest (DK), Vinterjazz (DK) and venues such as B-flat (DE), JazzHall Hamburg (DE), Philly Joe’s (EE), JazzDock (CZ) and Dexter (DK).
The third album “In Motion” by The Collective Abroad is coming out 2025.
Jonas Due
trumpet (DK)
Growing up in a family of trumpet players it wasn’t much of a coincidence when he stumbled upon this very instrument and started playing at the age of five. He quickly fell in love with the music of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Oscar Petersson while joining local bands as a kid. Through the years Jonas has been growing his skills while studying at RMC (rhythmic music conservatory) and with a handfull of jazz legends in New York such as Ambrose Akinmusire, Roy Hargrove, Mark Turner, Tomasz Stanko and many more.
In 2019 Jonas established the danish super group OTOOTO that quickly gained recognition from broadcast stations and critics throughout the world. Jonas has been touring extensively in most of europe, Japan and the US with names such as Danish Radio Jazz Orchestra, Snorre Kirk and many more.
Apart from being a sought after trumpeter - Jonas is also very active as a composer and arranger. He has contributed with his writing to more than a dozen records plus works for film and theater.
Felicia Roos

Felicia Roos is a jazz saxophonist from Stockholm, Sweden. Since graduating from The Royal College of Music in Stockholm she has worked as a freelance musician in her native Sweden as well as in various parts of Europe. Besides from playing with her own quartet, her musical journey has included diverse collaborations, such as Dina Grundberg Sextet and New Places Orchestra.
Maxim Frischmann

Maxim grew up in the heart of Munich, and in summer 2019 he completed his varied Bachelor's degree with Hubert Winter, Johannes Enders and Michael Wollny in Würzburg and Leipzig. He then moved to beautiful Switzerland, where, after a four-year artistic and pedagogical master's degree with Lutz Häfner and Christoph Grab, he wants to devote himself completely to art from September 2023. Maxim's musical audience now stretches across the whole of Switzerland and Germany!
Niklas Werk

Niklas Werk is a guitarist, composer and improvisor from Hamburg who is currently studying at the HfMT Hamburg with Gabriel Coburger, Sven Kerschek and Vlatko Kucan. In his music he is working at the intersection of jazz, free improvised and electronic music. Besides his own projects (lucid and Niklas Werk Quintet) he plays in various different formations of the Hamburg Jazz Scene: Werk / Petratos / Wendler, Clémence Manachère Untwerwasser, Tom Wendler Quintet, Alex Petratos Strings & Lutes and howtokope., among others.
Agne Pasaraviciene

Agnė Pasaravičienė is a younger-generation Lithuanian composer & pianist who combines the elements of modern jazz and contemporary classical music in her compositions and performing style. Agnė’s compositional work has already received acknowledgment in international competitions for music composition, and for two years in a row, her music has been chosen for the yearly “Jazz from Lithuania” compilation record among the best jazz artists in the country.
Jan Sedlák

“I am a bass player and composer, who finds inspiration in many genres of modern music. Last fifteen years, I have been active on the music scene in Denmark, Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania and Latvia, and my experience from the past projects includes performing, composing, recording, cross-art cooperation, band leading and project management. I am currently enrolled at The Danish Royal Academy of Music in Aalborg, focusing on composition and improvisation.”
Dominic Harrison

The German drummer Dominic Harrison is a rising name in the northern European music Scene.
In 2016 he found his love for improvised music. He quickly emerged to a regularly touring artist through Germany, Scandinavia, France, the baltic states and many more countries playing modern and traditional Bigbands, improvised and original music, as well as popular genres - as a live and recording artist. His development led to concerts and collaborations with artists such as Greg Cohen, Ben Van Gelder, Pierre Betrand, Vlatko Kucan, Randy Brecker and many more.
Early on he was awarded first place as “northern European Jazz Talent" as well as in the international Bigband Contest in the Netherlands.

Clara Fornander

Clara Fornander is a Swedish jazz singer based in Stockholm. In 2020 she finished her jazz bachelor studies at the Royal College of Music (KMH) in Stockholm. She plays in both bigger concert halls and smaller jazz clubs, and is regarded a fresh addition to the recent jazz scene in and out of Sweden. Since 2019 Clara is regularly residing in Germany where she has a growing network of musicians with which she has performed in cities like Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Hannover.
Clara grew up in the south of Sweden. During her upbringing Clara spent most of her free time playing the violin, piano and singing. In her teens her interest and work in jazz music started growing. Prior to university she was studying jazz music at the pre-colleges Sundsgårdens folkhögskola and Fridhems folkhögskola in southern Sweden, as well as Clayton State University outside of Atlanta, GA.
Nowadays she is composing and performing her own music and takes inspiration from all of the improvisational genres including folk and neosoul. She is involved in many different projects and plays in a variety of constellations. Since the fall of 2021 she is singing in the Swedish a capella group The Real Group.
Lauri Kadalipp

Lauri Kadalipp (b. 1995 in Viljandi, Estonia) is a saxophonist and composer who has played in numerous bands and project ensembles on jazz, pop and folk stages.
He has worked with many renowned musicians and ensembles such as Bodek Janke, John Riley, Melissa Aldana, Matt Brewer, Liisi Koikson, Mick Pedaja, Sten-Olle, Kristjan Järvi and NOËP.
In 2018, Lauri Kadalipp founded the big band New Wind Jazz Orchestra, which has collaborated Antti Rissanen, Kristjan Randalu and Wolf Kerschek. The big band will release it’s debut album in September collaborating with ECM recording artists Ben Monder and Ingrid Jensen under the renown British label Whirlwind Recordings. Since 2014, Kadalipp has been a saxophonist in the pop-reggae band Angus.
Lauri Kadalipp is the winner of the 2018 Young Jazz Talent Award, which is awarded in cooperation between Jazzkaar and the Estonian Jazz Union.
In 2019, Lauri Kadalipp wrote the music for the film "Old Man's Film", which was nominated for the Best Film Music category at the Estonian Film and Television Awards 2020. In addition to playing music and composing, Lauri Kadalipp is also closely involved in promoting the Estonian jazz scene. Among other things, he has worked at Philly Joe's jazz club as program director (2018-2020) and is currently artistic director of the New Wind Jazz Orchestra (from 2018) and a board member of the Estonian Jazz Union (from 2019).
Currently, Lauri Kadalipp is completing his Master's degree in saxophone and jazz composition at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre (Germany) and is actively performing with German and international ensembles across Europe.
